§— What We Do

How the lab
works with
partners.

Three engagement tracks. Each one designed for a different kind of partner and a different stage of conviction.

01Co-build

You carry conviction. We carry architecture.

02Bring a thesis

Research-led exploration before commitment.

03Invest

Capital aligned with the Lineage Break.

§01 — Co-build

Co-build a venture.

You carry conviction. We carry architecture.

You have a thesis about where the world is going. We design the AI-born operating model, build the agent infrastructure, and architect the governance layer that makes it real. You operate it. We hold equity, provide ongoing research intelligence, and stay engaged as the venture matures.

Ideal for

Founders and operators with a research-grounded thesis seeking a purpose-built AI-born architecture rather than a generic early-stage technology stack.

How it works

01
Thesis review

We stress-test your thesis against our research frameworks. Is it falsifiable? Is it thesis-first or product-first? Does it describe a real lineage break?

02
Architecture session

Multi-day working session to design the Five Planes of your venture — strategy, architecture, governance, operations, intelligence.

03
Operating model design

We define the human-agent topology, VP-Agent roles, oversight structures, and escalation paths. The Machine Core is specified before any product code.

04
Build phase

12–24 month co-build. We provide platform infrastructure, agent orchestration tooling, and ongoing research intelligence. You lead operations and market development.

05
Flywheel integration

The venture feeds back into the FTLAB Knowledge Flywheel. Evidence from operations informs our broader research programme.

§02 — Bring a thesis

Bring a thesis.

Research-led exploration before commitment.

You have a claim about how a domain is changing — but you have not committed to a venture form yet. We work with you to investigate the thesis rigorously, map the organizational design space, and determine whether there is a viable AI-born venture at the intersection of your conviction and market reality.

Ideal for

Researchers, investors, institutional leaders, and domain experts who want to apply AI-born frameworks to an area they know deeply — before deciding whether to build.

How it works

01
Thesis articulation

We help you sharpen your claim into a falsifiable, specific thesis. A vague direction becomes a testable assertion about the world.

02
Landscape mapping

Systematic review of the domain — incumbents, gaps, nascent patterns, and where the Lineage Break is creating white space.

03
Architecture sketch

A conceptual Five Planes design for a venture that could express your thesis. No commitment required — this is a thinking tool.

04
Decision point

At the end of the exploration engagement, you decide: proceed to Co-build, continue research independently, or hold the thesis for a better moment.

§03 — Invest

Invest in the thesis.

Capital aligned with the Lineage Break.

You want exposure to the AI-born transition — not through a fund of bets, but through direct participation in specific ventures you understand and believe in. FTLAB offers structured investment pathways into our venture portfolio, alongside access to our research programme and network.

Ideal for

Individual investors, family offices, and institutional allocators seeking direct, thesis-aligned exposure to AI-born ventures with active governance involvement.

How it works

01
Thesis alignment session

We walk you through the AI-born thesis and the specific venture opportunity. We only work with investors who genuinely understand and commit to the framework.

02
Due diligence

Full access to venture documentation, operating model design, governance frameworks, and performance data. We operate with institutional-grade transparency.

03
Structured participation

Investment structured to match your risk profile and timeline. You participate in governance where appropriate.

04
Ongoing intelligence

Quarterly research updates, access to FTLAB frameworks and publications, and participation in invitation-only events and sessions.

§— How we work

Principles of engagement.

Thesis first, always.

We do not engage with ventures or partners that are not thesis-grounded. Every engagement begins with a testable claim about the world.

Depth over breadth.

We work with few partners at high depth. FTLAB is not a services firm — we are architects. Quality of engagement is not negotiable.

Stewardship over extraction.

We build durable institutions, not quick flips. Our equity positions are long-horizon. We align our incentives with venture health, not exit optionality.

Research before opinion.

No engagement begins without systematic review. We never offer advice we have not earned through evidence — from our research programme or from prior operational encounters with the same class of problem.

Intellectual honesty.

We name what is uncertain. We revise frameworks when evidence demands it. We do not claim certainty where none exists.

The Widening of We.

AI-born organizations expand who — and what — participates in value creation. We design for that expansion deliberately, not incidentally.

Start a conversation

Co-build with the lab.

If you carry a thesis, an institutional challenge, or a venture ready for AI-born redesign, the conversation starts here.
