“Convincing people to “ stop buying clothes” is a relatively impossible mission, considering there is a 550 billion $ industry telling you to do the opposite”. Artist and conservation photographer Benjamin Von Wong has partnered with a social impact designer Laura Francois to create an incredibly powerful and emotional visual message by simply showing people how many clothes they will likely accumulate during their lifetime. An immense installation the Lifetime Closet features 3000 items of clothes - the amount that an individual in a developed nation might roughly wear over the course of their lifetime.
The World’s Tallest Closet has been designed to raise awareness for the amount of clothing waste we produce, to generate tangible action and encourage individuals to think locally. All clothes used in the installation will be donated to the Refuge Egypt Organization.
